I used to have a great following on my old blog. Now that I’ve spent so much time and effort to step it up and have a real website, I lost all of my readers. That kind of makes me sad. Many days I feel like I’m just talking to myself, and really, this shouldn’t be a big deal because it’s what I do all day anyways, just ask my family.
I’m sure that a big part of the problem, aside from the obvious, is that I don’t blog nearly as much as I used to. I have great intentions, but I am now a whole lot busier than I was a year ago.
For those who don’t know (and some have asked and I never replied…), in 2010, I was let go from my job at ACME (the alias that i used for my old employer because I was not allowed to name the company I worked for). I never saw it coming. I walked into my boss’s office on a Tuesday for my regular catch-up meeting and BAM – blindsided by the cruel corporate baseball bat to the side of the head. I went from happy camper to extremely unhappy and unemployed in the blink of an eye.
Two years of unemployment was hard. The economy has been horrible, the job market was even worse. I sent out literally hundreds of resumes and staked Monster, Career Builder, etc. and couldn’t even get a “thanks but no thanks”. I pimped myself out to friends, relatives, neighbors, etc. about job leads. It’s pretty demoralizing when you’re well educated and have over 20 years of corporate experience and can’t even get a call for a bank teller job, where the only job requirement is having a GED.
Just about the time my photography really started to pick up, I landed a great job. I now work for AI Software. We build custom websites for businesses. I help build the sites once they’re engineered, train the users how to maintain their sites, and manage a slew of interesting clients’ social media sites. So yeah, I truly do get paid to play on Facebook and Twitter all day! I love my new job, I adore my boss, business is growing and hey….I’m so busy! So yeah….so busy equals no bloggie.
I was thinking about it last night, however, that I have a ton of great pics out there that nobody has seen. I think I’m going to start doing “random photo” blog entries on the days where I would normally not post anything. That starts TODAY. My goal is to post something new every Monday through Friday. I already take good care of blogging for my clients, so I should be doing it for myself as well.
So with no further adieu, here is my first random photo:
That’s it for today. I hope this works. I’d love it if you’d drop me a comment now and then if you’re so motivated. 😀
ViVre - That’s a fabulous picture, Barb!!
Kim B. - I haven’t forgotten about your blog! I spend most of my time on Facebook these days but I am trying to wean myself back into the blogging world. Miss reading all my favorite blogs. I love reading your blog because as you know, I was born and raised in cincinnati. I enjoy keeping up with all my favorite hometown blogs. BTW, you are an awesome photographer.
