“Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,
Brown paper packages tied up with strings,
These are a few of my favorite things….”
Now I don’t know about you, but I personally don’t care about raindrops on roses all that much. One of my true favorite things, however, is certainly high school musical season. Being a theatre family, I look forward to these shows every year and although Mauri has long graduated and moved on to college theatre productions, I still have a huge soft spot in my heart for the Mariemont High School theatre kids and their amazing productions.
I’m not a hugely sentimental person.I don’t cry at weddings. I didn’t cry at graduation. However, I don’t know what it is about the MHS Musical every year, I start getting all blubbery as soon as the house goes dark and the overtures begin. EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. and EVERY. SINGLE. SHOW. I thought I wouldn’t cry anymore now that Mauri has graduated, but NOPE, the buckets of happy tears just keep on coming. I don’t fight it anymore, it is what it is. Fortunately I can take pics and cry those happy tears all at the same time, I’ve perfected that feat of multitasking over the last decade.
Combine my love of MHS theatre with such a beloved show like The Sound of Music, and this year was worthy of a giant sized box of Kleenex. I hope you enjoy my slideshow of this year’s performance. If you’d like to see all the photos in their online gallery, please click on this link: The Sound of Music – MHS Theatre 2018
I hope you all enjoy my pics as much as I always enjoy taking them, and special thanks to Liz McGahey who keeps inviting me back to keep doing what I love to do every year!
